The Real Mini Company Going The Extra Mile

The Real Mini Company is going the extra mile this October as owner Daniel Budd tackles the Oxford Half Marathon to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Dan readily admits he's more used to driving 13 miles than running them but is relishing the opportunity to take on the race which takes place on October 14th.

"It's definitely going to be a challenge but I'm sure that when I cross the finish line it will be well worth it " says Dan who has been trying to fit in the training around running his successful Mini restoration business, The Real Mini Company in Berinsfield. In between restoring classic Mini vehicles in his workshop, Dan is pounding the streets and racking up the miles ahead of the run which starts and finishes at Oxford United's Kassam Stadium.

For Dan, running on behalf of Cancer Research UK is more than just a case of running for a good cause. It also holds a more personal reason as the disease struck a close family member who thankfully has now been cancer-free for a year but it certainly made an impression on him.

"Nothing can prepare you for it" says Dan. "It's a terrible disease and it tears families apart. Thankfully we were luck and made it through together but having seen my family affected by it, I certainly wouldn't want anyone else to have to go through the same experience.

Cancer Research UK does some fantastic work and my pain for a few miles on a cold Sunday in October is nothing compared to what people suffering with cancer have to contend with so I was more than happy to try and raise a few pounds for such a worthy cause."
